9 Fragrances to discover and rediscover + a handy way to take them on-the-go!

I’ve always wanted to be one of those women who have a signature scent—one that follows them everywhere they go. You know, the kind of signature scent that if a friend smells the same fragrance on another person, they are instantly reminded of you. But, my fragrance addiction is much like my makeup addiction; I’m always wanting to mix it up and try new things. I like the feeling of newness and the bit of “surprise” I get when I can smell a new fragrance on myself throughout the day. Somehow, the variety makes it feel all the more special to me and I often match my perfume to my mood. Anytime we go on vacation, I bring along a new scent and wear it exclusively so that I get a new memory tie with it. Whenever I wear one of my CLEAN fragrances, my husband will tell me that I “smell like San Francisco.” :)

Traveling with fragrances can be a pain, especially with airline restrictions on sizes of liquids. I like to carry a fragrance in my purse, but even mini-sized bottles take up too much precious space in my already-too-small-of-a-bag. But, I found a solution! Travalo makes beautiful atomizers that are the perfect size for on-the-go spritzing so you never have to be without your favorite scent. Their refillable 5ml bottles come in a big selection of colors and designs. I had the opportunity to try the Milano design in my favorite color (mint!).

Travalo Mint

After getting to experience the atomizer for myself, I can say without a doubt that they are quality-made and a real luxury if you like to freshen up while you’re out and about. And, since they are so pretty themselves, I don’t feel too sad that I’m not perfume-ing straight out of some of my super cute fragrances bottles.

Each Travalo Milano hold 5ml (equal to 65 sprays). They are easily refillable as you pump directly from your original perfume bottle and your fragrance goes directly into the Travalo atomizer without being exposed to outside air and altering the fragrance in any way.

I’m a bit sensitive when it comes to perfume and cologne. Several scents, even if I love them, will give me headaches so it’s a bit of a trial-and-error process when getting used to a new fragrance… but I’m still addicted to ‘new!’

Though my rotation is constantly changing, I’ve narrowed down a few of my favorites. If you’re looking to add a new fragrance to your collection, here’s 9 (of my favorite) Fragrances to discover (and rediscover… some of these have been around for awhile!):

Issey MiyakeIssey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey | $78

This one has been around for what feels like forever. I’ll never forget the first time I experienced it. It was about 10 years ago, a woman passed me quickly and I immediately had to know what she was wearing because it was so fresh and clean and I needed to get my hands on it right away. So, of course, I chased her down. It only took a few hours before I headed to Sephora to grab a bottle for myself. Since that day, it’s still one of my very favorites.

Notes: Lotus, Freesia, Cyclamen, Rose Water, Fresh Peonies, Carnation, White Lilies, Precious Woods, Osmanthus, Tuberose, Amberseed, Musk.

TOCCA FlorenceTOCCA Florence | $68

I love several of the TOCCA fragrances, but Florence is my absolute favorite. I’m frequently complimented when I wear it… and several times, those compliments have been from people who “usually don’t like perfume.” This one is super familiar to me and I’m not quite sure why, but it’s feminine and romantic without being overly floral-y or perfume-y and makes me feel fancy when I wear it (always a plus since I’m often not fancy!).

Notes: Italian Bergamot, Grapefruit Leaves, Green Pear, Apple, Ivory Gardenia, Crushed Violet Petals, Jasmine, Tuberose, Blue Iris, Blonde Wood, White Musk.

Beach WalkMAISON MARGIELA ‘REPLICA’ Beach Walk | $125

The REPLICA fragrances are super fun and designed to evoke memories and feelings associated with specific experiences like taking a walk on a beach or visiting a jazz club. I feel this one is similar to Bobbi Brown Beach, but much better. It’s not overly suntan-y so I’ll still wear this one in the fall, but it always lightens my mood when I wear it. It’s delicate enough that it can be layered with other fragrances and light enough not to induce a headache if you’re sensitive. I really love it!

Notes: Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Lemon, Ylang Ylang, Coconut Milk, Heliotrope, Musk, Cedarwood, Benzoin.

cleanCLEAN Original | $40

CLEAN has an array of fragrances now, but this was the very first one ever released and I feel like it deserves to be included in this list! This one has stuck with me through the years and is probably in my personal Top 3 (and my husband’s favorite). It’s a pure, crisp clean that is fresh, energetic and very memorable.

Notes: Litsea cubeba, orange, sweet lime, pink grapefruit, passion lily, rose geranium, and white musk.

NEST CitrineNEST Citrine | $68

I love fresh, citrusy fragrances and this one definitely does not disappoint. It’s a bit understated so it’s not overwhelming at all and slightly sweet with fresh floral notes. And the bottle is really pretty, too!

Notes: Lemon Blossom, Lotus Flower, Freesia, Dew Drop Accord, Precious Woods.

atelier-orange-sanguineAtelier Cologne Orange Sanguine Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume | $70

Another really pretty fragrance with plenty of citrusy orange notes, but deeper and warmer than my other more lively citrus-heavy fragrances. Atelier Orange Sanguine is bright, yet deep and sexy and not at all foody. Even if you’re hesitant on citrus, I think this could still win you over!

Notes: Blood Orange, Bitter Orange, Jasmine, Geranium, Amber Woods, Tonka Beans, Sandalwood.

Moschino FreshMoschino Fresh Couture | $45

HOW. CUTE. IS. THIS. BOTTLE?! Fresh comes in a few different sizes, but since I’m a lover of teeny-tiny things, I bought the smallest and keep it displayed on my bathroom countertop because it’s so adorable! With notes of Bergamot, Mandarin and Raspberry, this one is really bright and energetic.

Notes: Bergamot, Mandarin, Ylang Ylang, Raspberry, White Peony, Osmanthus, Cedarwood, White Patchouli, Ambrox.

Black OpiumYves Saint Laurent Black Opium | $68

Black Opium is a bit out of character for me, but sometimes it’s fun to go out of character. This one is a dark and seductively sexy… and really warm! I always feel like I need to have a pair of heels on when I wear it. I can definitely see a lot of this one in my fall rotation.

Notes: Coffee Accord, Orange Blossom, Cedarwood Essence, Patchouli Essense.

bikiniChristian Louboutin Bikini Questa Sera | $275

This one is quite the splurge, but look at that bottle! Bikini Questa Sera is intriguing and very addictive… perfect for date night.

Notes: Paradisone, Green Nectars, Jasmin Absolut, Tuberose Absolut, Australian Sandalwood, Vetiver Haiti, Ambregris.
