While your littles are sleeping, resist the urge to eat all their Halloween candy and choose this healthy alternative instead! Before the trick-or-treating festivities begin, you still have time to run out and pick up a bag… or two!
A couple of days ago while we were out at Sprouts doing our weekly grocery shopping, a sample table was set up at the door for Hail Merry (a really cool brand that offers vegan and gluten-free desserts, granolas and nut/seed mixes). At first, I didn’t think it would be anything out of the ordinary, but I got to sample the Caramel Sea Salt Macaroon and the Chocolate Almond Butter Miracle Tart and was instantly hooked! Free chocolate samples are kind of the way to my heart… and then when the brand ambassador offered me a coupon for cents-off, I was SOLD. I immediately scratched the evening’s dessert off of my grocery list and headed back to the refrigerated raw foods section and bought three Hail Merry items. And I’m so glad I did.
I’ve passed the raw foods section several times before without giving these tarts and macaroons a second thought. I had no idea what I was missing out on!
The macaroons are slightly addictive. They come in an array of flavors, but I chose Blonde to start. They have a delicious sweetness and lots of coconutty flavor, and their texture reminds me of a slightly-firm cookie dough (but at the proper temperature, these will melt in your mouth!). Speaking of, they actually come in a cookie dough flavor that I’m itching to try. You get eight of these little macaroons in each bag and if you pace yourself, they are practically guilt-free. The ingredients of the Blonde variation are simple: organic shredded coconut, organic maple syrup, almond flour, raw organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic Madagascar vanilla, sea salt. One bag ran me about 5 bucks at Sprouts. Worth it.
My absolute favorites though are the Miracle Tarts. I picked up Chocolate Raw Almond Butter and Chocolate Mint. The Chocolate Raw Almond Butter is a heavenly alternative to a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. It’s really rich and has a bit of sweetness to the ‘filling’ while the crust is decadently bitter. It’s super soft and creamy on the inside, just like a peanut butter cup. And the ingredients are just as simple as the macaroons: organic maple syrup, almond flour, almond butter (almonds, organic palm sugar from sustainable farms, sea salt), dark cocoa, organic extra virgin coconut oil, sea salt. They’re not hiding anything here.
Totally vegan and gluten free. One tart is enough to last a few days if you slice it into mini servings. It’s rich enough that you only need a two-bite size to satisfy (like the size of a small, fun-sized candy bar).
You can order Hail Merry products online in bulk, or view their store locator to find them individually near you. You won’t regret it!
Where can you order these online in bulk? I checked all over their website and could not find any place to order online.
